On successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
- Advance their understanding of key concepts and fundamental principles of physics.
- Enhance their problem-solving skills and use of physics knowledge to provide solutions in various applications in science and technology.
- Apply critical thinking to evaluate and obtain a better understanding of complex modern technologies and their implications.
- Gain detailed knowledge and understanding of the advanced materials for applications in the next generation of electronic and optoelectronic devices and technologies particularly for those opting for the Advanced Materials Physics and Technology Concentration.
- Use qualitative and quantitative skills to formulate and design devices using advanced materials for various sensing/testing applications particularly for those opting for the Advanced Materials Physics and Technology Concentration.
- Learn various simulation and programming tools to solve and simulate a variety of physics problems particularly for those opting for the Scientific Computing Concentration.
- Implement appropriate programming tools and algorithms to provide solutions to scientific and/or real-world problems particularly for those opting for the Scientific Computing Concentration.
Physics underpins many of today's cutting-edge technologies and innovations. An MSc in Physics will equip you to meet the challenges of rapidly evolving technologies and support your long-term career development. Through this program, we aim to renew and strengthen student's knowledge in core areas of physics, while offering a range of elective courses that allow specialization in either scientific computing or advanced materials and technology. Graduates will be well-prepared to pursue careers in next-generation quantum-based computing and sensing devices, and AI for X initiatives.

Advanced Materials Physics and Technology Concentration
Students who opt for the Advanced Materials Physics and Technology Concentration are required to take the following three courses (9 credits) as part of the elective courses.

Scientific Computing Concentration
Students who opt for the Scientific Computing Concentration are required to take the following three courses (9 credits) as part of the elective courses.
To qualify for admission, applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Admission is selective and meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Applicants seeking admission to a master's degree program should have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification.
Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:

TOEFL-iBT: 80 (for tests taken prior to 21 January 2026) *
4.5 (for tests taken from 21 January 2026 onwards) * -
TOEFL-pBT: 550

TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)

Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if

For non-local applicants nominated by KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) for admission to the dual degree program with KTH, who are KTH final-year undergraduate students, the following alternative English proficiency attainment may be used to fulfill the English Language admission requirements:

Swedish Upper Secondary Course English 6 / English Level 2: Grade C or above
- A bachelor’s degree in Physics/Applied Physics, Optics/Photonic, Mathematics, Materials Science, Computer Science, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or
- A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines with at least two years of relevant full-time post-qualification work experience.
