The program trains students in the design, development, and deployment of practical AI applications, while preparing them for both intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial careers. Through a combination of courses, seminars and a year-long internship, students will gain deep technical knowledge and advanced skills in AI, enabling them to contribute original insights and innovative solutions to complex challenges in the field.

On successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Master strategic AI concepts and emerging technologies, with a focus on innovative applications in machine learning, deep learning, and AI-driven entrepreneurship;
  2. Develop adaptive AI frameworks that excel at learning and decision-making in rapidly changing environments;
  3. Create AI-driven solutions that leverage advanced programming to turn industry-specific problems into opportunities for growth and innovation;
  4. Optimize AI technologies using innovative metrics and techniques to improve their strategic effectiveness and efficiency;
  5. Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and leverage diverse expertise to develop AI applications that align with strategic business goals;
  6. Advocate for responsible AI development, focusing on ethical considerations and ensuring that solutions promote fairness and accountability;
  7. Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills by identifying market opportunities, conducting market research, and developing AI-driven products and services that meet the needs of businesses and consumers; and
  8. Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills related to AI and technology innovation to enable the successful commercialization and sustainable deployment of AI solutions in the marketplace.

(i) Introductory Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Courses

Students are required to choose at least three courses from the following list:

  1. Practicum

    6 credits

 

MAIE 6500

Students are required to complete MAIE 6500, normally in the second year of studies, to gain invaluable insights from world-leading industry experts. The course is delivered through a combination of seminars, interactive workshops and company visits, providing a rich blend of theoretical knowledge and practical industry experience.
 

MAIE 6600

Students are required to enroll in a year-long internship in Shanghai, normally in their second year of studies. Students can choose to join an AI company as an internship or start an AI startup company. Each student will be supervised by one academic faculty member and one industry expert as a pair.

To qualify for admission, applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Admission is selective and meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
 

1. General Admission Requirements of the University
  • Applicants seeking admission to a master's degree program should have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification.

2. English Language Admission Requirements

Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:

  • TOEFL-iBT: 80 *

  • TOEFL-pBT: 550

  • TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)

  • IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5 *

* Refers to scores in one single attempt only. Test at home option is not accepted.


Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if

  • their first language is English, or

  • they obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.

3. Program-Specific Admission Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or

  • A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines with at least two years of post-qualification work experience relevant to the program

4. Additional Information
  • Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an online interview conducted by faculty members
