The Master of Science (MSc) Program in Business Analytics aims to meet strong demand for business analytics professionals. It provides students with solid knowledge of business analytics by bringing together a wide range of knowledge in applied statistics, modeling, optimization, and information management

 

The program focuses on teaching students how to make good use of numerical data, multi-dimensional unstructured information, and business analytics knowledge for building data-driven strategies, enhancing performance, and facilitating evidence-based discussion for problem solving. It develops students’ business analytics competency, and hands-on experience in solving real business problems in various areas such as management, finance, and marketing. With theoretical and practical foundations in business analytics, supplemented with its techniques, students will be capable in integrating business communication, business analytics, and business decision making process in various business scenarios and domains.

On successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Apply theoretical and practical knowledge in business analytics to formulate business problems;
  2. Describe massive data using graphical tools, exploratory data analysis and analytical methods;
  3. Integrate cross-disciplinary knowledge with analytics to manage complex data structure in business environment;
  4. Analyze real business problems using various business analytics tools; and
  5. Play leading roles in successful business strategy execution using analytics.

    A list of electives offered in a particular year will be announced at the beginning of each intake. The elective courses are a selection of courses chosen from the portfolio of the School of Business and Management. 

     

    Students are allowed to take up to 4 additional credits of electives (on top of the graduation requirement of 30 credits), subject to approval of the Academic Director.

     

     

To qualify for admission, applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Admission is selective and meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
 

1. General Admission Requirements of the University
  • Applicants seeking admission to a master's degree program should have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification.

2. English Language Admission Requirements

Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:

  • TOEFL-iBT: 80 *

  • TOEFL-pBT: 550

  • TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)

  • IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5 *

* Refers to scores in one single attempt only. Test at home option is not accepted.


Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if

  • their first language is English, or

  • they obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.

3. Additional Information
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Operations Management, Statistics or related area is preferred.

  • Applicants are highly recommended to have a satisfactory GMAT or GRE score.

  • For the full-time program, relevant work or business experience will add weight to the application under consideration. For the part-time program, two years of full-time relevant post-qualification work experience is preferred.
