- FYTG 4001Students Interest Driven Project1-6 Credit(s)DescriptionThe course is developed under the HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School (FYTGS) and the program will be conducted in HKUST's Nansha campus. This course provides a platform for students to gain hands-on experience by conducting students-interest-driven projects or faculty-led projects sponsored by companies in Hong Kong or China. The program will employ an interdisciplinary team approach in which students of different disciplines are assigned to one group working together to find innovative ways to solve a real-life problem. Students will develop the much needed lifelong learning skills that are essential for their future. Seminars on the methodology to generate new product ideas, writing of a business plan proposal and entrepreneurial skills will be given. Each team will need to write a business plan proposal and present it to faculty and/or representatives from the company. Students will also need to make mid-term and final presentations of their work and submit a final report. Enrollment in the course requires prior approval by both the coordinator of the course and the UG Coordinator of the students' home department, and credits assigned depend on the workload. May be repeated for credits if different topics are taken. Subject to approval by the School and program office, the course may be used to satisfy the requirement of electives or Capstone courses. May be graded PP.
